MIX, Italy’s leading interconnection platform, announces the full operation of its modernised DC2 Data centre location in Italy as part of the MIX core infrastructure. MIX has Italy’s highest concentration of interconnected networks and maintaining this interconnection ecosystem requires world-class facilities.
The MIX DC2 data centre is a neutral facility designed to accommodate network and transmission equipment offering MIX customers the capacity, services and interconnectivity requirements that meets the highest market standards.
“The nature of digital infrastructure is changing, it’s more distributed with greater pressure on network performance, reliability and sustainability. As Italy accelerates on its path of digital transformation, MIX is dedicated to advancing its data centre infrastructure and interconnection services to meet the digital ambitions of established and future customers”, said Mauro Magrassi, MIX Chief Technical Officer.
MIX DC2 is a prime example of a data centre driven by growing requirements from domestic and international network operators in Italy. The DC2 location is a Tier III equivalent datacentre offering a world-class level of reliability and redundancy of power and cooling systems according to International Standard ANSI/TIA-942.
The expansion and modernisation of the MIX DC2 location includes:
- Intelligent power distribution units have been installed in the racks that are remotely monitored to control electrical loads
- Racks in the Meet-Me-Room have been upgraded and integrated
- Intelligently controlled high-performance close-coupled cooling have been installed in the data centre to ensure optimal cooling using the latest technology.
- New extinguishing systems have been installed with temperature control and anti-flooding systems to cover the area of the data centre.
All of these upgrades to modernise the data centre allows us to further serve our customers’ evolving needs for a superior interconnection facility. MIX is among a few leading European Internet Exchange Points to operate its core interconnection infrastructure in its own data centre.
This planned investment represents the next step in a longstanding commitment by MIX to remain an integral part of Italy’s Internet infrastructure ecosystem in step with the rising demand for interconnection services.
