New upgrade of MIX infrastructure

In the night between 7th and 8th of April, the second switch (Foundry BigIron 8000) dedicated to the public peering at MIX has been upgraded to the Foundry Jetcore technology.

The alignment to the same technology already present from November 2004 on the switch Foundry 15K, guarantees a total reliability and redundancy of the MIX peering services and increases MIX switching performances up to more than 700 Gigabit per second.

Both switches are now equipped with copper FastEthernet ports, multimode and singlemode fiber Gigabit Ethernet ports and 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

This operation falls within the program for adequating MIX infrastructure to a technical platform able to guarantee a very high reliable and fast switching capacity of the internet traffic exchanged at MIX, currently reaching more than 11 Gbps.
