MIX infrastructure upgraded

MIX Milan announces the upgrade of its infrastructure through the introduction of a new Layer 2 device.

The new model is a Foundry BigIron 15000 switch based on Jetcore ASIC Modules that guarantees performances of 480 Gigabit per Second switching and is equipped with the maximum redundancy in order to provide the highest levels of reliability.

The adoption of the new device enable MIX to expand its interconnection capabilities making available now single mode Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as last generation 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.

Thanks to the new switch the MIX will also be able to offer to its customers multicast peering services, that will be operational within the end of the year.

The upgrade of MIX infrastructure was made necessary by the continuous increase of the exchanged traffic that, currently, considering private and public and peering, reaches almost 9 Gbps.
