The Internet evolution has reached a worldwide level of distribution in which ISPs provide services to commercial companies as well as scientific ones and to research organizations all over the world.

This distribution is also reflected in Italy, where there are different network topologies in terms of the quality and quantity of traffic based to the type of services and geographic spread.

This efficient and effective interconnection between different networks is crucial; it impacts both individual backbones and the global network.

Here Milan Internet eXchange (MIX) comes into play: to promote the development of the Internet in Italy, and to improve the interconnection between different ISPs operating in Italy

What MIX is not

MIX is not an ISP or an Internet Provider. It doesn't supply internet connection to end users, nor resells space inside its premises nor it provides web-hosting and web-housing facilities.
